FRC Team #1248: The Midpark Meteors

Welcome back to school! As always, this year is our year!

We will be meeting during the fall to get our freshmen started, finish up stuff from the summer, and prepare for our demo at Ford Middle School. Once we have meeting dates/times, we will post them to the calendar. Check that page, or add that calendar to your calendar (Google Calendar or other calendar program).
Important events and other news will be posted here as well.

Once we have a definitive list of new members, I will set up Google Apps accounts for them, so everybody on the team will have that available for their use. Please let me know if you need an account (or your account's password) before that is done (there's no promised date at this point in time).
Meanwhile, new team members (and anyone else, for that matter) are invited to register on these forums and ask any questions they have about our team, Robotics in general, or just introduce yourself to everyone else.

Returning team members: please let people (especially at our school and surrounding areas) know about Robotics, to both recruit new students who are interested, and to get donations from businesses. Also, get any new team members to register on here and start posting.

As I have heard from some people (myself included), our domain name is quite long (20 characters at its shortest). To alleviate that inconvenience, I have set up a shorter domain name to be an alias for our current one.

As of today, you can also access our website at mhsrt.org. The two domains refer to the same site.
That means that anywhere you saw/typed "midpark-robotics.org" can now be replaced by "mhsrt.org".
Examples:
forum.mhsrt.org
mhsrt.org/members.php

Email services for team members will activate within the next 24 hours. This means you will be able to access your email at mail.mhsrt.org and be able to send to @mhsrt.org emails (in addition to @midpark-robotics.org emails).

If the new domain isn't loading for you at the moment, check back tomorrow before reporting the issue. It can take a while for the DNS changes to propagate.

BTW, mhsrt stands for Midpark High School Robotics Team. This wasn't my first choice, but all of the other ones were already taken.

Our hosting provider (NetFirms) has gotten a new data facility (aka data center). Our site's server (along with our site) will be migrated to the new data center between 06/11/10 at 22:00 (10:00 pm) and 06/12/10 at 6:00.

How the site will perform (speed-wise) is yet to be seen. It may be considerably slower during those times. Also, the site will be completely down for about a half an hour during that time block.

Any email sent to our domain will still be received (our email is through Google). No data on the site will be lost.

This is just a heads-up so people don't complain if the site is slow/down during those times.

I was going to have third option "I plied the fifth." I think that one will have the most votes, so I kept it to either or.
